Books Books Books

I love to read-- but it comes and goes as the rest of my passions/obsessions-I just wanted to share with you some of my favorites!!!

Augusten Burroughs is one of my all time favorite authors. His books all mostly memoirs that follow is life struggles. They follow them through an abusive father, a bi-polar crazy ass mother, growing up gay, alcoholism, drug addictions, one night stands, best friend dying of AIDS, ruined christmas', becoming famous, etc.  He is so funny and witty. He can make you cry, laugh. and angry over and over again. His stories never get old. He has written many books and I know I have read each of them 2 or 3 times. "Running with Scissors" was also a major motion picture-

50 Cent has a few good reads out also- turns out on top of being an actor, rapper, producer, etc. he loves writing books on top of the 2 I've read and loved he also a fiction series out that received great reviews. The first book "From pieces to weight" is his life story, however it is way more detailed then anything we've ever heard as well as, poems that he has written and motivational thoughts and wisdom. The second one is 50th law. This is a rewrite of Sun Tzu's Art of War. It's very interesting.

Bernie Mac unfortunately died long before his time. He was one of my favorite people. However, luckily for us, wrote 2 books before his passing. They are both memoirs that are incredibly funny as well as teach us about his life, how he grew up and began his career.

After high school i had the brilliant idea to go to college and study Criminal Justice; which I still love, however, I was busy dating convicts and drug dealers at the time. That as you imagine, caused a bit of a discrepancy at school. Criminal Justice is still something I love. In due terms, I found a few good books along my path on true crime and investigations.

This book is about one of the most gruesome unsolved murders. A young socialite that was cut in half and mutilated.

At University of Tennessee in Knoxville there is a world renowned forensics study lab that has done more for the forensics field than anything else. It's a field that consist of a few acres about 2miles from the university. What they study are how human bodies decompose in different environments as well as how the bugs develop in what stages of the decomposition. The man responsible for this is Dr. Bill Bass, who still works at the university today. His office is actually under the famous football field. His work and himself have helped solved many famous murders. In the books above he wrote about his experiences and how he came to develop The Body Farm.
In a small town, a little girl who lived a horrible life-abuse from her mother prostituted out at 7yrs old, etc committed a murder-who's fault was it? Hers or her mother's?

Another book of summaries on various crimes and in turn how our laws have changed because of them.

This is another true crime that was also made into a movie; but the book is way better as usual.

You may or may not know who Dave Navarro is. He is a musician who worked with such bands as Marilyn Manson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, but he is probably widest known for briefly being married to Carmen Electra. This book absolutely amazed me. It is 1year in the life of him-before the marriage. What he did was put a picture booth in his house and anyone that walked in the door was required to take a picture in it-he added most to this book. We follow him through his trials and tribulations of love, life, and trying to kick a heroin habit that had been torturing him for years. If you love quotes-you'd love this because I'm pretty sure I have highlighted and tagged more stuff in this book then I had of every book I have.

Chelsea Handler is a comedian who has her own night time talk show on the E! network. I first saw her on HBO doing stand up. She's great-She has written 3 books but this one is the 1st I haven't read the other 2 year because they stay on the best and top 10  list and wont go on sale. However this one is exactly as it is titled-My horizontal Life--It is stories of all her one night stands-Perfect for a laugh-and we can all relate to these stories.

If you know me you know my absolute love and admiration for Michael Jordan. This book was written a few years back 2002/2003. However he tells stories we've never heard before in it about himself and team mates. It also tells things about his life growing up and what he went through when his dad was murdered. As well as his new plans with life and Nike. He owns a motorcycle race team-who new?

Eminem wrote this book in 2007-so its fairly recent. There's nothing new in here that we don't know because he pretty much tells us everything all the time, but the pictures and lay out is pretty cool.

This book was so damn interesting to me, I'm sure I've read this a million times it seems. It's a story that has never been told before because this woman is the only one that knew it. However, her name is Angela Ardis and she didn't speak about it until about 2006 or so. AMAZING!!

As we all know I'm a bit of a porn buff-it interest me to wonder how and why you would do that but at the same time I enjoy the hell out of it too. Jenna Jameson is one of the most famous porn stars on the planet. This book tells how this beautiful young girl from a small town ended up in this industry as well as how she changed the game for woman-and of course as the title stats-how to make love as a porn star-plenty of tips and hints.

Karrine Steffans is one of those video Ho's we see all the time. However this ho ran her mouth about how she got what she wanted in the industry. She has written 2 books but this one is my favorite. Some of her stories include giving JayZ head in the back of a limo after one video and if he is or is not well-endowed. She also has a blog site and the most recent thing she posted was Bobby Brown's fat ass passed out on her couch after a 3 day crack binge. She'sa classy ho like that!!

So I'm sure you've all heard the mystery of Kurt Kobain's death? The famous front man for Nirvana- This is a book of his journals- so amazingly confusing and interesting just as you'd expect-I guess heroin does that to people.

I don't even know how to put this book into words. Its about the conspiracy between Tupac and Biggie's murders told from the detective that got fired when he got to close to figuring it out. I've read it 3times and keep wanting to go back as if i can solve it for him. It's well written, but there is alot to it and alot of names to keep up with also-so it takes patience and concentration to read this book, but totally worth every minute I've spent with this man. Absolutely amazing-in my own curiosity I've researched some of the people and situations he has spoke about-it was all legit. He also spoke on a few Tupac documentaries.
Marilyn Manson wrote a book a few years back. Even if you are interested in him or not-This book is actually very good and funny. You actually do figure out who he is and how he ended up like this. The only thing that sucks is it actually was written before much of his fame. Nonetheless its very good.

I love Poems-Maya Angelou as you should know if you don't has been around it seems a million years, She also makes appearances in many black movies, like Poetic Justice the movie with Tupac and Janet Jackson-Every poem "Justice" Janet's character wrote is actually written by Maya Angelou for that movie.. Her focus is mostly black culture, however, you can turn her poems anyway you like. I know I find something for me in every one of them. This is a collection of her best.

I'm sure you've heard of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers_ the front man, Anthony Kiedis, who always had long long hair up until about 7 years ago,  wrote this book. Its captivating- he's always been so quiet about his life and past. This book takes you through every step of the way-drug addictions, girlfriends, band problems, how he came up with many of his songs.

I'm sure you know who this lady is. Love her and is a great comedian. This just tells bits and pieces of her life but is sooo funny.

So another Tupac book-This is really cool though. It's a collection of his poems, but the best part is one page is written in its original form-by him where he uses a picture of an eye for "I",etc. and the next page is type as how it's suppose to be.

If you don't know who Russell Simmons is, look it up because I don't think I have enough room for all of it here. He wrote this book in 2009. If you love motivational books-You've got to read this!

So if you don't know now you do, I believe in Ghost's period. I lived in a haunted house by myself and had to deal with the bitch until I moved out. This book was written by the men that star in the famous show on SCI_FY called Ghost Hunters. This book however, tells about how and why that got started in the business as well as, some of the things they have encountered that they couldn't put on the show. 1 interesting fact-there is a ghost that can rape you! I double checked that fact!

This was a very moving book. I got it after I saw Frances Bok on Oprah.LOL. However, he is from Africa and was a slave during a militia rade after being captured. He tells the story of his struggles during this time.

I have a HUGE fascination with Sylvester Stallone. I'm not sure why. However he has always been quite about his life and just lived it. Now he gives some in site on how he became the man he is. It also has his and his wife's workout tips and diets.

Another Tupac- this book is huge in size and comes in a cool case reason being, as you see above there are tons and tons of cool pullouts from his journals, shows, posters, memo's, and other various items.

and of course TWILIGHT-which I'm not going to bother talking about
So those are a few of my fav's--check them out!!!
